
Connect to <Server> window appears unexpectedly when trying to access Ferrysoft Help Desk web services.
Symptoms
Windows prompts for User name and Password when trying to access the Ferrysoft Help Desk web services.
Cause
This is caused by Ferrysoft Help Desk web services not being configured to allow anonymous access.
Resolution
To resolve this, use Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager to enable anonymous access for the Ferrysoft Help Desk web services web site:
Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
Expand the tree to select the FerrysoftHelpDeskWS web site.
Action, Properties.
Select the Directory Security tab.
Click the Authentication and access control Edit button.
Untick everything in the Authenticated access panel.
Tick 'Enable anonymous access'.
